I am an artist of the north of England, from Middlesbrough. I studied psychology and sociology before coming to the controvertial decision at the time that all I want to do is be an artist, and so I changed my college route to Art & Design. After leaving Middlesbrough, I found myself moving around the north and falling in love with the countryside. Leaving my hometown really shone a light on industrialisation, it's landscape alone is enough to make me reflect and has been an influence in many of my pieces. Since then, I have lived in rural Northumberland, places such as; High Green, Rothbury and Henshaw, again only increasing my appreciation for nature and bringing attention to how the earth really should look. This led me to really pay attention to climate change, and the human destruction behind it. I then found a balance between the city and country life in Durham, before making my final and current move to a place my heart has always desired: The Lake District, a never ending inspiring part of the world with landscapes that really do take your breath away. Everywhere I have lived has shaped who I am, and my art along with it.

I was always a quiet person. Over the years I have learned to express a feeling, emotion or story best through painting a picture, using colour and movement to lead the way. I find this is how I best communicate and I simply allow expressionist strokes to do the talking. There are elements of realism in my work too at times, which is simply an attempt to make that picture as clear as possible.

I am at my happiest when I am outdoors and I love to try new things. This applies to my life and my artwork, always experimenting.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Being constantly inspired by the natural world we share; it's beauty and its inelegance, it's time we let nature speak and feel through art. Through means of expression, mixed media artworks demonstrate my perspective of the contrasting way of life, using colour and movement to tell the story of what hides in plain sight.

My art wants to say: look after our world and our beings within, see the beauty in what we already have, pay attention, nurture it, and welcome chaos.
